Exemption:
If one wants to get exemption from the subject based on the previous studies must give the application to the tutor until Sept. 14. The transcript (original or validated copy) and the detailed topic list of the relevant subjects should be attached. If there is a proper overlap between the topics (at least 75%) we check the knowledge of applicants by a written test containing multiple choice questions at the beginning of the second week of the semester.
The attached sample test shows the style of questions. The real test will contain 40 questions.

Lectures:  According to the rules the participation ont he lectures is obligatory, but we check it only seldom.

Laboratory practices.Students have to prepare for the laboratory practices. Precondition for participation on the laboratory practices, that the student must print the lab report sheet and fill the first page. It is important, that the student should write the questions, that he/she had during preparation for the practice. This will be the basis of discussion .

Rules for lab reports :

1.      Every lab report is considered as a written exam, where three types of grades can be given: „Accepted” „Correction needed” or „Not accepted” .

2.      The basis of acceptability that the teacher must sign the data measured ont he practice and written into part D of the lab report.

3.      After this the evaluation of the data must be done on the attached pages (parts E, F, G). For this application of computer is suggested, but the previously used excel sheets prepared for the given measurement are not allowed to use.

4.      Only the tasks listed in the homepage are required for a certain measurement.

5.      We give help to prepare the lab report by the checklist included in the sheet.

6.      The decision about acceptance of lab report is done usually one week after the measurement. If the grade is “Not accepted”, or “Correction needed” the student is responsible for the correction of mistakes (part H), but the examiner will check it on the exam. During the correction the first version should remain in the lab report in order to see, why the correction was necessary. For correction of small mistakes it is not necessary to include new page.

Missed measurements

Doing the missed measurement with another group is possible with previous agreement of both teachers (your own and the teacher of the group, where you want to go).

If you can not do the missed measurement with another group, you have to make the lab report from the data given by the teacher but it is still considered as an absence.

In case if one has more than three “Not accepted” lab reports the signature for the semester is denied.

All the lab reports must be shown to the examiner on the semifinal/final exam. If the mistakes are not corrected the result of exam will be one grade worse.

Midterm tests:

there will be two midterm tests on the 5th and 9th weeks. It contains 5 questions, from which there are 2 calculations. The first midterm will be from the lecture material of 1-4. weeks and the laboratory practices of the first measurement cycle. The second midterm will be from the lecture material of 5-8. weeks and the laboratory practices of the second measurement cycle.
We call your attention, that all the supporting materials (e.g. the textbook) are necessary for the preparation.
For the signature one must achieve at least 50 points from the 100 possible altogether to be achieved on the two midterms.

Midterm retake:
Retake will be on the 13th and 14th weeks The retake will be from the material of both midterms. On the retake 50 points should be achieved from 100.

Conditions for signature:

1. At least 50 points in the test in Mathematical and physical bases of medical biophysics.
2. Participation in at least 75 % of the lectures.
3. Participation on at least 75 % of the practices, (in case of more than 3 absences the signature for the semester is denied.)
4. Acceptance of the lab. reports. If one has more tha 3 „not accepted” lab. reports, the signature is denied. The lab reports must be given to the tutor the week after the measurement.
5. At least 50 points in the two midterms together or in the retake.

In very special cases of more than 3 absences just the head of the Department can make a decision about  the exceptional signature.

Exams
The lab. reports have to be given to the examiner. The material of practices that were cancelled by any reasons can also be the material of the exam. If the examiner realizes, that the very essential mistakes in the lab. reports were not corrected, the exam will not be allowed.

The exam statrts with a written test. If the result is below 50 %, the student fail. If the result is between 50 and 60 %, the grade is 2. Above 60 % one can go to the oral exam for a better grade.

We call the attention that  we do not give permission to take Biophysics II. without passing Biophysics I.

A tantárgy rövid leírása

Biophysics plays a basic role in the education of pharmaceutical students. There are dual role of the subject: on one side it gives general knowledge of natural sciences, on the other side it gives theoretical and practical basis of application of physical principles and methods in pharmaceutical sciences.
In connection to this it helps the development of structured way of thinking. Through this one can find connection to the basic subjects and to the applied pharmaceutical subjects.

Vizsga

Everybody should bring ID card to the exam.  Also should bring the lab. reports. In the absence of ID card and/or lab. reports the exam can not be started.. We call your attention, that during the midterm tests and exams one can use calculator with max. 2 lines display only.
