Regional Biophysics Congress (RBC 2024) Split
2024. szeptember 2
Between August 26 and 30 in 2024, a few Members of our Institute participated in the Regional Biophysics Congress (RBC 2024), which was hosted by Split in Croatia.
Miklos Kellermayer summarized the recent works and results of the Biophysical Virology Research Group in a plenary lecture.
Kata Haba PhD Student and Sarolta Antal TDK Student (supervisor Dóra Haluszka) presented their latest results in posters entitled "Nanomechanical and optical properties of human dental collagen in type 2 diabetes mellitus" and "Effect of type 2 diabetes on the fracture resistance of human dentin". Andrea Varga (Cellular Mechanics Research Group) also participated in the conference with a poster presentation entitled "Cellular effects of the R196H cytoskeletal beta-actin mutation causing baraitser-winter syndrome".
RBS is one of the most important forums of the European biophysical community. Organized every two years by the countries of the region (Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia), the Conference has a history of more than 10 years. This year we could follow the presentations of many excellent researchers, as well as get to know interesting topics and young Colleagues in the poster section. City of Split served as an excellent location for the Congress, with many attractions such as the Palace of the Roman Emperor Diocletian or the Cathedral of St. Domnius. We are also grateful to the Organizers, on Wednesday we visited the Salona district and the small island of the old town of Trogir, finally in the evening they treated us to a real Mediterranean dinner.
