Laboratory practices
Students have to prepare for the laboratory practices by reading the corresponding chapter of the Laboratory Manual
The condition for participation on the laboratory practices is that one has to pass the moodle test from the given topic before the practice. The test contains 10 questions and 50 % should be achieved. One can try the test no matter how many times until you pass.

Rules for lab reports :
1. Every lab report is considered as a written test, where three types of grades can be given: „Accepted” „Correction needed” or „Not accepted” .
2. The lab. report should be done by filling the excel sheet downloaded from the homepage of the department.
3. The processing of data can be accepted only if it is based on the data measured by the student.
4. Only the tasks listed in the homepage are required for a certain measurement. The lab report must be uploaded during the lab.
5. The teacher will show, what is the mistake or missing part in the lab report.
6. The successful completion (min. 50%) of the Moodle test before the lab. The test can be attempted any time during the week before the lab, from anywhere.
Missed measurements
Participation in the practical lessons is compulsory. No more than three absences from practices are allowed for any reason, otherwise the semester will not be credited. The missed measurements should be done with another group during the 4-5 weeks cycle of laboratory practices if possible. (One should ask for the agreement of the teacher of own group and the other group.)

Students must write a lab. report for each measurement in excel. The file to be filled can be downloaded from the homepage of the Department. The students should prepare for the measurement by reading the related chapter of the laboratory manual.
In case if one has more than three “Not accepted” lab reports the signature for the semester is denied.
Conditions for signature
1. Participation on at least 75 % of the practices, (in case of more than 3 absences the signature for the semester is denied.)
2. Acceptance of the lab. reports. If one has more than 3 „not accepted” lab. reports, the signature is denied. The lab reports must be uploaded to the website at the end of the practice.
3. Successful completion (min 50%) of the Moodle tests before the labs.
Midterm test (knowledge test)
- During the semester, in the 9th week, at the beginning of the practice, we take a 25-30 minute knowledge test. Of this questions for the weekly preparedness test questions, the calculation questions issued during the year tasks, as well as questions similar to the evaluation of the minutes. One for the latter dataset must be downloaded and analyzed. ATTENTION! An exam discount can be obtained based on the test result: those who score at least 60% are exempted from the calculation task in the exam, those who score 85% they are exempted from the practical from both evaluation and calculation tasks and the question related to the practical material. The test will contain questions also from the first semester measurements and calculations.
- If one achieves favour it does not mean grade 5 for the exempted question and does not mean successful exam in any case just the exam will be simplified.
- In case of unsuccessful exam the favour is lost and on the retake all the questions must be answered.
- The midterm test can not be repeated or taken later, it can be written only with the student’s own group during the practice.
- If one wants to check the test it will be possible during the 10th week in the presence of lab. teacher.
Exams
The exam is oral. It starts with an excel task and a calculation, then one practical and 6 theoretical questions are given.

We call the attention that we do not give permission to take Medical biophysics II. without passing Medical biophysics I.

Our teaching program is evolving continuously. Focused on the general objective of meeting the requirements of the medical curriculum, the courses are also intended to provide specific medical biophysics training.
Todays students will be the physicians of the oncoming decades. In selecting and highlighting topics of study, the first viewpoint is scientific foresight: the knowledge should be conveyed which must be pertinent to ensure first-class professional competence while keeping abreast of the most recent development in the field of study. Our aim is not only the teaching of a specific body of knowledge but also the development of the exact scientific method and concrete problem-solving abilities.

Competition
Competition on Medical biophysics/Biophysicswill be held on May 2 (Thursday) at 7:00 p.m. in Szent-Györgyi lecture hall. Its duration is 2 hours.
Condition for participation: grade 4 or 5 on the semifinal exam.
Form of it: written test containing problems and theoretical questions.
Favours of exam:
The persons getting at least 50 % from the calculation part do not have to do the calculation on the final exam.
The persons getting at least 50 % of the possible points also in the theoretical part, do not have to take the theoretical questions on the final exam. In this case only the practice question has to be answered (together with its theoretical background). We call the attention, that in this case the exam is not formal and the student must be prepared well in order to get good grade.
- The persons achieving the best results (winners of first, second and third places) will get some reward and they do not have to take any question at the final exam (they get 5).
The winners will not be determined separately for the different faculties.
