credit: 4

Lecturer: Dr. Gabriella Csík

Tutor: Dr. István Voszka (phone: 459-1500/60211)

Condition for signature: participation on at least 75 % of the practices, the result of both midterm tests should be at least 2.

After the semester there is final exam (written test + oral). One has to achieve at least 50% of the possible points on the written part in order to pass. The student whose average of midterm tests is at least 4 (concerning only the first trials) can get exemption from the written test. The exemption is valid only for the first exam. The oral part contains two theoretical question and one practice question. Failure is possible also on the oral part.

REQUIREMENTS
Participation in the practical lessons is compulsory. No more than three absences from practices are allowed for any reason, otherwise the semester will not be credited. Missed sessions must be reported to the teacher the week after.
Students must write a lab. report for each measurement. The registration card is signed only when the report is acceptable. The report is due two weeks after the measurement. At the final exam time all students must show their collection of reports to the examiner.
Assessing the students knowledge
Midterm test covering the material of lectures and practical lessons: twice a semester (6., 11. week) Repetition of unsuccessful test: 8., 13. week. For credit one must pass both midterm tests.
Short tests: possible every week (up to the teacher).

At the end of the second semester we organize a competition. The condition for participation: the average result of midterm tests is at least 3.5.

A tantárgy feladata az orvosképzés céljainak megvalósításában

Our teaching program is evolving continuously. Focused on the general objective of meeting the requirements of the medical curriculum, the courses are also intended to provide specific medical biophysics training.
Todays students will be the physicians of the oncoming decades. In selecting and highlighting topics of study, the first viewpoint is scientific foresight: the knowledge should be conveyed which must be pertinent to ensure first-class professional competence while keeping abreast of the most recent development in the field of study. Our aim is not only the teaching of a specific body of knowledge but also the development of the exact scientific method and concrete problem-solving abilities.

The examination period after the second semester is between May 21 and June 28. In this time period the following days can be chosen for the exam for biophysics:

May 22, 29 June 5, 12, 19, 26

Registration should be done on the NEPTUN system.

(The exam days in August will be announced in the second half of June.)
The exams start at 8 30 a.m., in the student’s laboratories of the department.

Form of the exam:

Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry:

The  semifinal exam consists of written test and oral.

Students have to register for the exam using the Neptun system. Change of exam date is possible until 8 a.m. two days before the exam. After  this time if the change is unavoidable one has to contact Dr. Voszka (ext. no: 60211. e-mail: voszka.istvan@med.semmelweis-univ.hu).

Sitting for a semifinal exam left from the first semester is possible on May 22 and 29. One can register on the Neptun system, too.

Consultations in the exam period will be on the following days at 2 p.m.:

May 21, 28, June 4, 11, 18, 25, August 27.

Competition on Medical biophysics/Biophysicswill be held on May 8 (Wednesday) at 7:30 p.m. in Szent-Györgyi lecture hall.

Condition for participation: the average of midterm tests is at least 3.5

Form of it: written test containing problems and theoretical questions.

   Favours of exam:

Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry:- The persons getting at least 50% of all the possible points (within this at least 25 % of the possible points in both parts) do not have to take the written test on the final exam.

- The persons getting at least 60% of all the possible points (within this at least 25 % of the possible points in the calculation and at least 50 % in the theoretical part) do not have to take also the theoretical questions on the oral part (only the practice question).

 - The persons achieving the best results (winners of first, second and third places) will get some reward and they do not have to take any question at the final exam (they get 5).

Faculty of Pharmacy:  - The persons getting at least 50% of all the possible points do not have to take the written test on the final exam.

  - The persons getting at least 60% of all the possible points do not have to take the written test on the final exam and they can not get worse mark, than 4.
  - The persons achieving the best results (winners of first, second and third places) will get some reward and they do not have to take any question at the final exam (they get 5).

The winners will not be determined separately for the different faculties.

The condition for participation: the average result of midterm tests is at least 3.5. (Instead of the midterm tests in the first semester the result of the semifinal exam can be taken into account.) Students, who did not pass the semifinal exam are not allowed to take part in the competition.

We call your attention that during the competition one can use calculator with max. 2 lines display only.
