Biophysics 1. Dentistry 2020-2021
Leírás
Általános információk
Compulsory subject 1st year 1st semester
1.5 hours lecture/week + 2.5 hours practice/week
credit: 3
Lecturer: Dr. Károly Liliom
Tutor: Dr. István Voszka (phone: 459-1500/60234)
Exemption:
If one wants to get exemption from the subject based on the previous studies must give the application to the tutor until Sept. 13. The transcript (original or validated copy) and the detailed topic list of the relevant subjects should be attached. If there is a proper overlap between the topics (at least 75%) we check the knowledge of applicants by a written test containing multiple choice questions at the beginning of the second week of the semester.
The attached sample test shows the style of questions. The real test will contain 40 questions.
Condition for signature: participation on at least 75 % of the practices. The lab reports should be uploaded to the given website at the end of practice.
REQUIREMENTS
Participation in the practical lessons is compulsory. No more than three absences from practices are allowed for any reason, otherwise the semester will not be credited. The missed measurements should be done with another group during the 4 weeks cycle of laboratory practices if possible. (One should ask for the agreement of the teacher of own group and the other group.)
The timetable of the Department can be downloaded here: http://biofiz.semmelweis.hu/upload/file/orarend_2020_z.pdf
Students must write a lab. report for each measurement in excel. The file to be filled can be downloaded from the homepage of the Department.
The students should prepare for the measurement by reading the related chapter of the laboratory manual.
All the measurements (even if it was cancelled for the given group for any reasons) can be asked during the semifinal or final exam.
Rules for lab reports :
1. Every lab report is considered as a written test, where three types of grades can be given: „Accepted” „Correction needed” or „Not accepted” .
2. The lab. report should be done by filling the excel sheet downloaded from the homepage of the department.
3. The processing of data can be accepted only if it is based on the data measured by the student.
4. Only the tasks listed in the homepage are required for a certain measurement. The lab report must be uploaded during the lab.
5. The teacher will show, what is the mistake or missing part in the lab report.
If the network is not available the form for the lab report can be downloaded here:
Lab Report Form
The schedule of laboratory practices can be found here:
http://biofiz.semmelweis.hu/upload/file/GYAKRE2020z.doc
Exams (ED)
The exam is oral. The students get questions generated randomly both from laboratory practices and theory.
Formula collection can be used on the exams. It can be downloaded here: Formula Collection
We call the attention that we do not give permission to take Biophysics II. without passing Biophysics I.
A tantárgy feladata az orvosképzés céljainak megvalósításában
Our teaching program is evolving continuously. Focused on the general objective of meeting the requirements of the medical curriculum, the courses are also intended to provide specific medical biophysics training.
Todays students will be the physicians of the oncoming decades. In selecting and highlighting topics of study, the first viewpoint is scientific foresight: the knowledge should be conveyed which must be pertinent to ensure first-class professional competence while keeping abreast of the most recent development in the field of study. Our aim is not only the teaching of a specific body of knowledge but also the development of the exact scientific method and concrete problem-solving abilities.

Everybody should present an ID card at the exam. In the absence of ID card the exam cannot be started.
We call your attention, that there is no possibility to increase the number of exam days or places during the exam period, since we teach students on 3 faculties and 3 languages.
Topic list can be downloaded from the "Documents" drop-down menu just right to this "Exam" menu.
Rules of the online exam:
Only one device can be used for the exam. This device is preferably a computer. A tablet or other device can only be used if meets the requirements detailed below:
1. It is your responsibility that the device has a suitable internet connection, video and audio input. In case of disconnecting more than a few seconds from Zoom during the exam, it is considered as the student did not attend.
2. The camera must be switched on during the whole exam. It has to provide the video even if you are working in an application other than Zoom (e.g. MS Excel or similar spreadsheets, or the buil-in basic calculator). Headphones or earphones are not allowed for the students during the exam.
3. Sharing the desktop is obligatory during the whole exam. Sharing only an application window instead of the desktop is not allowed. During the exam, the formula collection found at the link below can be opened:
Only this pdf version of the formula collection is allowed, the printed version is forbidden.
4. Your face, chest, and hands must be visible on the camera during the whole exam.
5. You might use a blank white paper and a pen in front of you, and a not-programmable (max 2 lines display) calculator. These should be shown to the camera at the beginning of the exam.
6. You must show your picture ID registered by the English Secretariat to the camera at the beginning of the exam.
The exams will be recorded and saved for 3 days.
On the day of the exam each examiner will create separate Zoom meetings. On the morning of the exam day the students will be assigned randomly to the examiners. The assignments will be posted on our webpage to the documents, where the approximate starting time (Budapest local time), and the Zoom meeting ID of the examiners will be presented for each Neptun code.
Exam procedure: The exam is oral with 2 examiners. All questions are drawn with a random generator in the bifilab system from the semifinal topic list.
The exam starts with a practical question and solving a practical task in an appropriate spreadsheet. We recommend to use the desktop version of MS Excel. This software is provided by the University. In case of technical problems please check https://seka.semmelweis.hu/en/info/o365
Sample MS Excel sheets for practicing the exam are available on the bifilab.semmelweis.hu/bifilab page.
If this part of the exam is successful, than 2 theoretical questions will be drawn. One grade based on the whole exam will be determined. The questions/tasks will be shown one after the other. You should begin answering after a brief thinking period. Both examiners can ask further questions throughout the exam.
Consultations in the exam period will be on the following days at 3 p.m.:
Dec. 14, 21, 28
Jan. 4, 11, 18, 25
The Zoom meeting ID will be given here before the consultation.
